"Keep Cinema Special”…

Opened in March 2016, Newlyn FilmHouse is a two-screen independent cinema, converted from an old granite fish cellar and smokery that was itself built in 1876.

Based in the heart of Newlyn, one of Britain's largest fishing harbours, Newlyn Filmhouse has become a much-loved and well-used facility for locals and visitors alike, screening the best in world cinema, live events, blockbusters and arthouse films.

The driving force for us to open was the lack of diverse film offerings or stylish viewing experiences from existing Cornish cinemas.

We are a Curzon Connect Cinema. We actively encourage local film-makers including hosting opening nights for independent films (eg, the BAFTA-winning film BAIT with a Q&A by Mark Kermode and the director Mark Jenkin).

Beside our cinema, we have a modern spacious Eathouse restaurant and bar that has made our venue a much-needed cultural destination for the whole family.
