When Damiel falls in love with lonely trapeze artist Marion (Solveig Dommartin), the angel longs to experience life in the physical world, and finds - with some words of wisdom from actor Peter Falk (playing himself) - that it might be possible for him to take human form.

Hit The Road (12A) coming August

Panah Panahi makes a striking feature debut with this charming, sharp-witted, and deeply moving comic drama. Hit the Road (12A) takes the tradition of the Iranian road-trip movie and adds unexpected twists and turns. It follows a family of four - two middle-aged parents and their sons, one a taciturn adult, the other an ebullient six-year-old - as they drive across the Iranian countryside. Over the course of the trip, they bond over memories of the past, grapple with fears of the unknown, and fuss over their sick dog. Unspoken tensions arise and the film builds emotional momentum as it slowly reveals the furtive purpose for their journey. The result is a humanist drama that offers an authentic, raw, and deeply sincere observation of an Iranian family preparing to part with one of their own.

Jackie Brown (25th Anniversary) (15) coming September

Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown (15) celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. Starring Pam Grier in the title role, along with Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Forster, Bridget Fonda, Michael Keaton, and Robert De Niro in supporting roles. The 1997 film is an adaptation of Elmore Leonard's 1992 novel Rum Punch, and pays homage to 1970s blaxploitation films, particularly the films Coffy (1973) and Foxy Brown (1974), both of which also starred Grier in the title roles. As Tarantino's third directorial effort following Reservoir Dogs (1992) and Pulp Fiction (1994), it is the only feature-length film that Tarantino has adapted from a previous work. As neither Grier nor Forster, both veteran actors, had performed a leading role in many years, this film revitalized their careers, earning Forster a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and Golden Globe Award nominations for Jackson and Grier.
